ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 Overview

Unless you’ve been living under a rock this past year, you’ll have noticed that ASUS have released the latest version in their Zephyrus series, the ROG Zephyrus G14.

There’s no doubt about it, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 is great for gaming. It has a QHD 120Hz display with a fast response time to deliver a crystal clear image, and its AMD CPU and GPU provide a smooth gaming experience in 1080p and 1440p. Unfortunately, there have been several users reporting that it gets hot and loud under load, and the GPU throttles slightly. That being said, this laptop offers blazing performance all round. The slim design makes it just as portable as other notebooks available on the market, with added firepower packed inside! The compact size doesn't mean you have to compromise on battery life, either, delivering more than 10 hours in just a single charge, impressive right?!

The ASUS Rog Zephyrus G14 is also an excellent workstation, especially with the addition of a webcam in this model. If you’re looking for a compact multi-purpose laptop then this is definitely an option to consider! Below we dive more in depth into the latest release in the Zephyrus range, so keep reading!

Style, Quality & Portability - This laptop is a high-end gaming laptop with a thin and lightweight design. While it has some gamer aesthetics, it doesn't go overboard, so you can still use it in a professional environment. Weighing just 3.86 pounds, it's lighter than most laptops, while packing far more power. While it isn't as thin and light as an ultraportable device, it isn't bulky or heavy either like some of the previous models. The slim chassis is made of aluminum, magnesium alloy, and polycarbonate, giving it strength and substance, providing a high-quality, sturdy feel. The finish feels smooth and doesn't appear to pick up fingerprints or scratch marks easily. It's available in two color schemes: Moonlight White and Eclipse Gray.

Keyboard & Touchpad - The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 has a great keyboard. The layout is fairly standard and the overall typing experience is great. You can customize the RGB backlight through the ASUS Aura Creator application, adjust between three brightness levels or turn off the backlight entirely using FN + F2 or F3. This latest  model has an excellent touchpad, it's large even for a relatively compact laptop, and it feels smooth, allowing the fingers to glide easily. The click mechanism feels satisfying, but you can only click on the bottom half of the touchpad.

Ports - When it comes to ports, this slim gaming machine has plenty to offer. Featuring a pair of USB 3.0 Type-A ports, two USB-C ports, a microSD card slot, a HDMI video output, a headset jack and a power connector which is centered in the middle of the chassis. Wireless connectivity gets a boost, as well, with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2.
